Police Beat: Sept. 23


ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • An unknown person or persons used a telephone to threaten an 18-year-old female student between Saturday and Monday at various times by calling her cell phone while she was at Taylor Place at the downtown Phoenix campus, police reported.The caller made threats about killing and raping the student in her dorm room, according to the police report.
  • An unknown person or persons committed third-degree burglary between noon on Monday and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday by unlawfully entering an 18-year-old male student’s vehicle and taking an amplifier and subwoofer, police reported.The vehicle was parked in Parking Structure 4 at Tyler Street and Rural Street, according to the police report.The estimated loss is $200, police reported.
  • An unknown person or persons committed theft between 10 a.m. and 7:40 p.m.Tuesday by taking a bicycle belonging to a 28-year-old male old student.The student’s bicycle was taken from a bike rack located on the north side of the Farmer Education building on ASU Tempe campus police reported.

    The estimated loss is $500, according to the police report.

    There are no suspects, leads or witnesses at this time, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed third-degree burglary between 1:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday by breaking into the vehicle of a 24-year-old female student and taking an iPod and an automotive cell phone/mp3 charger/holder, according to the police report.The vehicle was parked in Parking Structure 7 at East Apache Boulevard and South McAllister Avenue, and the suspect broke the passenger-side window before unlawfully entering the vehicle, police reported.The estimated value of the items taken is $162, while the cost of replacing the vehicle’s passenger-side window is unknown, according to the police report.
  • An unknown person or persons committed theft between 12:40 a.m. Monday and 2:55 p.m. Tuesday by taking a bicycle belonging to a male student, according to a police report.The student’s bicycle was taken from a bike rack located on the northwest side of the Memorial Union at the Tempe campus, police reported.The estimated loss is $460, according to the police report.
  • An unknown person or persons committed theft between 4:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Tuesday by taking a bicycle belonging to a 42-year-old female student, according to a police report.The student’s bicycle was taken from the Durham Language and Literature building at the Tempe campus, police reported.The total loss is $300, according to the police report.
