Remembering Pat Tillman

Pat Tillman was a great man. He loved to play football. And he loved this country.

He was also a Sun Devil and an Arizona Cardinal, and his legacy lives on with us now. At Harkins Camelview 5, everyone can see part of his story in the film, "The Tillman Story."

The story in the film isn't necessarily happy or inspiring. It's not for the viewer who wants to see a sports film. Or for the viewer who wants to see a war movie. It's for everyone who wants to see the truth.

The film follows Pat Tillman's family as they tell their story of confusion. After his unfortunate death, his family suspected something wasn't right. Their suspicions were correct.

Unfortunately, even after the entire film, questions were still left unanswered. Pat was killed by friendly fire. It was a terrible mistake, and to make matters worse, there was a cover up that started at a high level.

The initial story that came out was about him dying as a hero. He was always a hero, but he didn't want to have a military funeral, and he didn't want his death to be widely publicized. His family respected his wishes, but the rest of the world did not.

It was a bit weird to me that this film was even made. From watching the film, I feel like he would have never wanted a big media circus. I do respect that his family simply wants the truth, and I hope that this film gets them closer to that truth.

The movie is worth seeing. It's tragic, but it's real.

On a slightly different but similar note, today is the ninth anniversary of September 11. Pat was fighting in this war for our wonderful country, and he died for this country. But he's not the only one. Many courageous men and women have died for our freedom, and I think we should remember all of them today.

This is for all of the brave souls, their family, their friends and our country.
