ASU junior defensive tackle Lawrence Guy was added Thursday to the 2010 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, the ASU athletics department announced in a release.
According to the release, the award, named for former Southern California and NFL defenseman Ronnie Lott, is given annually to a player who exemplifies integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity (IMPACT).
Guy, who suffers from dyslexia and attention deficit disorder, earned a 3.41 GPA in the spring 2010 semester.
So far this season, Guy has helped anchor the ASU defensive line, one of the team’s strengths.
Through four games, Guy has accumulated one sack and 14 tackles, tied for fifth-most on the team.
The award is voted on by members of the national media, previous finalists, alumni of various universities and others.
Last year’s winner was Texas Christian defensive end Jerry Hughes. Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis won the award in 2008.
The winner of the award is announced in December.
