Women’s golf through round two in Texas

After a rough start to open the NCAA fall preview, the ASU women’s golf team improved its play in The Fall Preview Tuesday.

Among the talented group are ASU juniors Carlota Ciganda and Giulia Molinaro, who are competing as individuals. Both Sun Devils improved upon their first round scores with solid second rounds.

Molinaro started the day in a several-player tie for 51st place, but she would not stay there long. The junior golfer got off to a hot start with a birdie on her first hole. She then proceeded to shoot eight consecutive pars to finish off the front nine.

Molinaro followed her first nine holes with three bogeys in the back nine. However, a birdie on the 14th hole helped her stay one over par with a 73 on the day. She is currently locked in a tie for 42nd place.

Ciganda jumped from 67th place up to a deadlock for 54th place after two rounds.

Her two bogeys and seven pars in the front nine placed her at two over par at the turn.

Ciganda fared better on the back nine as she smashed seven pars and a birdie to finish the round at 74. She currently sits at seven over par heading into the final day.

The Sun Devils tee off in the final round of the NCAA Fall Preview Wednesday.
