The Texas Rangers are finally headed to the League Championship Series.
Until Tuesday night, the Rangers were the only team in baseball that had never advanced beyond the Division Series.
An accomplishment such as this deserved an exciting celebration. The Rangers started their postgame fun with a unique beverage of choice: ginger ale.
The Rangers held off on the champagne in order to include outfielder Josh Hamilton in the festivities.
Talk about a classy move. The Rangers made sure that Hamilton joined in the celebration before the alcoholic beverages were opened.
Hamilton’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Once the first overall draft pick by the Rays, he nearly lost everything due to drug and alcohol abuse.
Hamilton has overcome his addictions and emerged as a star in the Rangers’ outfield.
The 2010 season is a feel good story for Texas as it continues its run through the postseason.
From manager Ron Washington’s cocaine admission in the spring to Hamilton’s improbable surge back to stardom, Texas has faced more than enough adversity.
The Rangers now head to the Bronx to face the hated Yankees. Let’s hope Tuesday wasn’t the last time Texas will celebrate with ginger ale.
