Have you ever tried to spell Cody Ross backwards?

Well, neither had I, at least not until somebody pointed out what Cody Ross backwards actually spells. “Ssory Doc.”

Excuse the extra “s” and the missing “r” in the word sorry, but you get the gist and understand that it spells “Sorry Doc.”

It was Cody Ross who hit two home runs off Phillies ace Roy Halladay in the opening game of the NLCS, one to put the Giants up 1-0 and the other to break a 1-1 tie and put the Giants ahead for good.

Ironic, huh?

For those still wondering, Halladay’s nickname is Doc. With a no-hitter already to his name in this postseason, Doc Halladay was cruising along on Saturday until Ross struck.

The name manipulation is kind of cool, but strange at the same time.

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Ross must have eaten not just one apple, but two apples that kept the doctor away from pulling out a key game one victory.

The Florida Marlins waived Ross just a few months back and for now at least, he is a hero to his new club.

Sorry, Doc.
