Breaking news, Michael Irvin and Cris Carter: New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t need Randy Moss.

In a desperate attempt to stick up for the perpetual malcontent, as part of the flanker fraternity, the two hall of fame receivers and current broadcast analysts miss what the Patriots way is all about.

On any given play, as any observer can attest, Moss can be the best to ever lace ‘em up. ESPN columnist Bill Simmons, as usual, perfectly describes the Moss saga from a fan’s perspective.

For what Moss can do stretching the field, for which there has been none like him, you simply cannot consistently take plays off and maintain, as a team, a competitive advantage.

This proves as much about sports as anything you’ll find. As a teammate or a coach, you cannot watch a player, arguably your most talented player, loaf off on film and still maintain a cohesive, selfless identity as a team.

Brady has won with Reche Caldwell, Deion Branch, David Givens and Troy Brown as his top pass catchers.

The Patriots reintroduced an old paradigm to the NFL and have stuck to it to the point where no matter of outside influence can change their decision making process.
