The final BCS standings were released Sunday.

In just under five weeks, college football will have its champion.

But what if the country didn’t have to wait that long?

As the bowl season approaches, I’d like to once again open up the playoff conversation with my proposed bracket.

No. 1 Auburn vs. No. 8 Connecticut

No. 4 Stanford vs. No. 5 Wisconsin

No. 3 Texas Christian vs. No. 6 Oklahoma

No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 7 Virginia Tech

UConn and Virginia Tech would receive automatic births for winning their respective conferences.

I’d still lean toward a Tigers vs. Ducks championship, but at least this way there would be no doubt.

The games would be played at the same four BCS bowl locations that are in place now (Sugar, Orange, Rose and Fiesta).

The semi-finals and national championship games would be bid for like the Super Bowl or Final Four.

Hey, a fan can dream, can’t he?

If Qatar can get a World Cup, why can’t college football get a playoff?
