Body found in Town Lake still needs to be officially identified

An autopsy conducted Monday morning on the assumed body of 24-year-old missing Tempe man Willie Jigba suggested that his death was not a result of foul play, according to a Tempe Police media release.

The body was found floating in Tempe Town Lake Friday morning. The body is tentatively being identified as Jigba, who was reported missing two weeks ago. Tempe Police is waiting on dental records from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office before confirming that it is Jigba.

The autopsy revealed no signs of trauma on the body and preliminary findings are consistent with drowning, according to the release.

The police are currently treating this as a death investigation and the final cause and manner of death will not be concluded until toxicology reports are complete, police reported.
