ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • The Mesa Fire Department requested assistance from ASU Police on Jan. 20 at approximately 6:55 p.m. in reference to a possible house fire on the 6000 block of East Ural Avenue near ASU’s Polytechnic campus, police reported.

    Smoke was seen coming out of the house and an investigation revealed that the smoke was the result of burnt food left unattended, according to a police report.

    During the investigation, drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana was discovered and turned over to ASU Police for destruction, police reported.

    The house was deemed safe to occupy, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons stole a cell phone from the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus between 10:30 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. on Jan. 16, police reported.

    The total estimated loss is $300, according to a police report.

    There are no suspects or leads at this time, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons stole a golf cart from the east side of Manzanita Hall on the Tempe campus between 3 p.m. on Jan. 18 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 19, according to a police report.

    The total estimated loss is $1,500, police reported.

    There are no suspects or leads at this time, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons unlawfully bent the rear license plates on two separate cars in the Vista Del Sol Parking Structure between 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 20, police reported.
  • A 48-year-old Tempe man was arrested Jan. 19 on suspicion of being impaired to the slightest degree and having a blood alcohol content above .08, police reported.

    The suspect was investigated at around 2:40 a.m. at the intersection of Rural Road and University Drive where it was revealed that he was operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, according to a police report.

    The suspect submitted to a breath test, which resulted in 0.134 and 0.129 BACs, police reported.

    He was cited and released to Valley Cab, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons stole a laptop from Talon Hall on ASU’s Polytechnic campus between 10 p.m. Jan. 14 and 1 p.m. Jan. 17, police reported.

    There was no evidence of forced entry, according to a police report.

    There are no suspects or leads at this time, police reported.
