Samson Szakacsy is his own individual.

That's why it is no surprise that the junior quarterback is moving on from football.

Szakacsy has decided to pursue other endeavors when he graduates following this semester, rather than use his last year of athletic eligibility. Szakacsy was redshirted in 2007.

On the field, Szakacsy was often hampered by arm problems. He appeared in five games as a sophomore in 2009, starting the final two games of the season.

This year, Szakacsy played in just one game, relieving junior Steven Threet at California, after Threet suffered a concussion. A religious studies major, Szakacsy told the Arizona Republic that he plans to travel to Jerusalem after graduation to live and study.

Szakacsy is actively involved in music and started a youth football camp for kids on the San Carlos Apache Indian reservation, which he plans to continue.
