The ASU football team has announced that Scott Brown will be the defensive line coach for the 2011 season, replacing Grady Stretz, who left after taking the same position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown was the defensive line coach at Duke for 12 seasons (1996-2007) before holding the same position at Colorado State from 2008-2010.

He is expected to assist defensive coordinator Craig Bray in weekly game planning and has recruited in East and South Texas during his time with the Rams, according to ASU media relations.

“Our defensive linemen, who met with Scott while he was on his interview, were very impressed with his style and his passion for the game,” Erickson said in a released statement. “They were ready to play immediately.”

Brown has been a defensive line and linebackers coach since he began his coaching career at Adams State, his alma mater, in 1976.
