Where did SlamBall go?

You know, the basketball-like sport played on trampolines.

That was awesome.

The sport was a parent’s nightmare.

I remember setting up a hoop in my friend’s backyard next to his trampoline.

Quite frankly, I’m not sure how I survived to talk about it today, but that’s beside the point.

Mason Gordon invented the game in the early 2000s. And in 2002, SlamBall made its television debut.

Six teams, mostly made up of street ballers, played in the inaugural season.

Athletes were encouraged to play as physical as they could, with one of the positions even called “stopper.”

The stopper’s job was to protect his team’s basket at any cost, which made for some epic mid-air collisions.

Dunks were worth three points to encourage players to attack the rim even more.

Who could forget guys like Myree Bowden, aka the REEMIX, going up for a slam against big bad Dion Mays?

Okay, maybe I had to look those guys up, but still, SlamBall was ridiculously fun to watch and still holds a place in my heart.
