Men’s dive starts strong at NCAAs

The ASU men’s dive team got off to a fast start at the 2011 NCAA Swim and Dive National Championships.

Only the preliminary round of the 1-meter springboard dive has been completed, but the Sun Devils placed three divers inside the top 20.

Juniors Constantin Blaha and Cameron Bradshaw finished the prelims in seventh and 16th, respectively, while sophomore Riley McCormick currently sits in eighth, just five-tenths of a point behind Blaha.

In the finals, the Sun Devils will look to overtake some divers from Texas — three of the leading four divers are from the University of Texas or Texas A&M.

In addition to the 1-meter dives, the trio of Sun Devils will compete in the 3-meter springboard dive on Friday, and McCormick will compete in the platform dive Saturday.
