Two gymnasts qualify for regionals

The season is over for the majority of the ASU gymnastics team, but two Gym Devils have earned the chance to compete as individuals at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Senior Beaté Jones qualified as an all-around gymnast, while junior Madison Snowden qualified for floor exercise.

Jones had been the leader of the team all year, especially after senior All-American Mary Atkinson went down with a knee injury, and has competed in all four events in eight meets this season. Her all-around high score was 39.225, and she also tallied season-highs of 9.900 on vault, a 9.825 on bars, 9.800 on beam and a 9.850 on floor.

Snowden has also been an instrumental piece of the Sun Devil squad this season. She posted a 9.900 score or above four times on her floor routine, including a season-high 9.925 against Oregon State and University of Bridgeport.

Jones and Snowden are set to compete in Norman, Okla., on Saturday, April 2, in a meet hosted by Oklahoma.
