As far as I’m concerned, the NHL is back, baby.

This year’s edition of the Stanley Cup Finals has been one of the most exciting and entertaining series in a long time.

There’s been drama, fighting, goals galore, a suspension and even a biting incident. And it’s not over yet. Vancouver takes a 3-2 series lead into tonight’s game in Boston, where the Bruins have been almost unstoppable.

Game seven, anyone?

However, the best part about this year’s NHL playoffs is that we didn’t have to wait until the finals for things to heat up.

The first round was fantastic, with half the series going to game seven. In the second round, the Red Wings-Sharks series was an instant classic, and actually had me rooting for Detroit to pull off the comeback, despite the fact the Wings knocked off the Coyotes in the first round.

The Eastern Conference Finals was a hard-fought series, right to the end, but the Bruins came out on top.

Which brings us to today. If the Canucks win tonight, they will claim their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

But I’m hoping Boston pulls off the win tonight. I figure that a Stanley Cup playoffs as great as this year’s has been deserves to end on a game seven. It’s only fitting.
