Tempe Police reported the following incident Sunday:

  • Two Gilbert brothers, ages 24 and 22, were arrested in the early morning of June 5 on the 20 block of East 6th Street after assaulting a security guard, police reported.

The younger brother was previously removed by a security guard from Robbie Fox’s, a bar located on the 600 block of South Mill Avenue, and told his older brother that he had been assaulted by the bouncers while he was in the restroom and that they had almost killed him, according to a police report.

The two brothers returned to the bar and waited in their car until police contacted them, at which point they said they were waiting for a friend, police reported.

A half hour later the two men exited the vehicle and approached the bouncer that had removed the younger brother from the bar, according to a report.

When another employee from a local business tried to intervene, the younger brother struck the bouncer several times in the head and neck with a tire iron, police reported.

The bouncer suffered lacerations, swelling and abrasions to the areas he was hit, according to a report.

The older brother was carrying a dangerous instrument and hit an assisting bouncer in the face, police reported.

Other employees who were alerted of the attack eventually detained the two men, according to a report.

Both men were transported to Tempe City Jail on counts of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, police reported.
