Sometimes, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Luckily for Arizona Cardinals fans, they didn’t lose what they have.
Last week the Cardinals re-signed Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald to an eight-year, $120 million contract.
Cardinals fans should be rejoicing. There is no doubt that he is one of the best receivers in the game. He is guaranteed to give you 90 catches and 10 touchdowns in a season. And his acrobatic, “How did he do that?” catches are simply amazing to watch.
Did anyone see the catch he had against the Green Bay Packers last Friday?
But in a league where the wide receiver position is filled with divas, the Cardinals also kept one of the most mature athletes in the game. “Fitz” will never break up the locker room like Terrell Owens, dance obnoxiously in the end zone like Chad Ochocinco or beat a cornerback to a pulp like Andre Johnson.
He even renegotiated his contract in a classy way. Fitzgerald was loyal, saying that Arizona was the only place he wanted to play.
Larry Fitzgerald is one of the best athletes and all-around good guys that has ever come through town, and thankfully, we have him for eight more years.
