Maroon and Gamer: Enter the World of a Gamer

Salutations, ladies and gentlemen reading this particular blog. My call sign will be “Maroon and Gamer” but I am a local Tempe student by the name of Spencer Fawcett. I am majoring in English Literature and Film and Media Studies. I am currently 21 years old and was born in Boise, Idaho but only lived there for about three years. I am not from Arizona originally, I drove from Fairfax, Virginia to attend Arizona State University and for all the non-Virginians out there, Fairfax is in the northern part of Virginia, which is very close to our nation's capital.

I have been playing games since the days of the Playstation 1 and the original Game Boy in which I burned hours of my childhood time with the first portable version of Tetris. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon were a few of my favorite franchises as a kid. During the PS2 and Xbox era, my interest in gaming waned slightly. It was at the release of the Xbox 360 that really opened my eyes to what gaming could be and how bright the future seems for my one of my preferred hobbies.

I am very passionate about video games and while everyone describes them as a waste of time and money, I disagree. Games are the latest method to tell new and interesting stories and settings such as an art deco world under the ocean a la Bioshock or a journey through post apocalyptic Washington D.C. looking for your father in Fallout 3. Writing is my creative outlet into the world of gaming and I hope my readers and followers discover just how passionate I am about the underground world of the video game industry.
