There are plenty of stadiums around college football that are historic. From the Horseshoe at Ohio State, the Coliseum in Southern California and Death Valley in Louisiana, famous playing fields are abundant in college football.
Then there’s the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. In addition to hosting the granddaddy of all bowl games, the Rose Bowl in January, it plays home to UCLA football.
The Rose Bowl opened in 1922 and has hosted a variety of big time athletic events ever since. The Olympics, FIFA World Cup, the MLS Cup and the Super Bowl have all been played there.
Now in 2011, this highly renowned stadium is in dire need of improvement. Fortunately, the Rose Bowl Stadium Legacy Campaign is helping to do just that. There will soon be a new press box, larger tunnels, more aisles, increased restrooms and improvements made to the field edge.
A booming new video board has already been added to provide fans with more entertainment.
Needless to say, the stadium will be even better once the much-needed renovations are complete. The Rose Bowl certainly deserves it, and it now will continue to be one of college football’s elite stadiums.
