Kobe, Kobe, Kobe.

Mr. Bryant, it didn’t take you long to return to your old ways.

In case you’re not watching the Los Angeles Lakers, Bryant is back to his selfish ways on the court. Prior to Sunday’s games, he led the league in with 208 attempted field goals. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is second, a mere 59 shots behind the leader.

Bryant is taking 23.1 shots a game – the highest average since 2005 with a career-high of 27.2 shots.

There’s a striking resemblance of Bryant’s selfish play under Mike Brown and the way LeBron James played with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The sad part is Bryant’s supporting cast is much better than James’ old crew.

It wouldn’t be a problem if Bryant still had Smush Parker and Kwame Brown on his team, but that’s far from the case. He has Andrew Bynum, who, if healthy, is the only one who can compete with Dwight Howard as the best center in the game. He also has the All-Star power forward Pau Gasol.

Sure, his bench is softer than tissue paper, but he can’t consistently attempt game-winning shots with three defenders on him. Bryant’s one of the best to play the game, and because people doubt his ability, I’d be shocked if he changed his ways.

That’s just Kobe being Kobe.
