For the past two weeks, my life has been dominated by March Madness. From Thursday to Sunday, my time has been spent watching one of the most exciting sporting events of the year. But Sunday, another sport fought for my attention: golf.
Although golf doesn’t keep up with the fast-pace, upset-filled entertainment the tournament brings, Sunday was a special day for the sport. For the first time since September 2009, Tiger Woods captured a PGA Tour win.
One of the biggest moments in the final round was when Graeme McDowell, whom Tiger was paired with, had an opportunity for a birdie on the 15th green while Tiger was putting for par. McDowell missed the putt by inches, wasting a huge chance to cut the lead. Then, from 20 feet away, Tiger sank his putt and gave his classic fist pump, which displayed one thing — Tiger is back.
It’s been a long time coming for his fans as he displayed his true “Tiger Woods” abilities through all four rounds to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
While watching Tiger hit shots and sink putts throughout the fourth round, an old element of golf made a return: Sunday is Tiger’s day.
