We’re diving into March, excited for the college basketball championships, spring training, and the news of recent NFL free agent Peyton Manning.

However, I think it’s important we recognize a major feat in the NHL.

The Phoenix Coyotes went undefeated in the month of February, showing the team’s tenacity and resilience as a prominent contender in the Western Conference.

The Coyotes concluded an unbeaten, successful month with a 2–1 shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 28.

Goaltender Mike Smith had a lot to do with the Coyotes’ success, as he was an impressive force in the net for Phoenix with a .952 save percentage. It’s no wonder he was named NHL’s First Star of the Month in February.

The Coyotes are ranked No. 2 in the Pacific Division behind the Dallas Stars, providing Phoenix with momentum heading into the playoffs.

I am excited to watch them continue to play at this level, and I’m confident Phoenix will impress on the ice just as much as they did last month.
