University Police are searching for a man suspected of attempting to take a woman’s cell phone out of her hand Friday around 1:30 a.m. at ASU Lot 59.
ASU Police Cmdr. Jim Hardina said the woman and her two friends had just parked their vehicle when the man came up behind the woman and grabbed her wrist.
The woman pulled her arm away before the man could grab her cell phone, Hardina said.
After the man’s attempt, he ran away from the girls and entered a dark-colored, 2003 to 2005, four-door Chevrolet Impala with dark-tinted windows, according to a University crime alert.
The women told police the man was black, in his early 20s, with short black hair and about 5-foot-10-inches tall, according to the alert.
The women were unable to give the license plate number or provide a description of the getaway driver, Hardina said.
Hardina said this incident is not related to the iPhone robberies in October because all of the suspects involved in those robberies have already been arrested.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the man or the Impala’s whereabouts to call the University Police Department at (480)-965-3456.
