It’s always upsetting to see spring training come to an end. I know it’s one of my favorite times of the year, but the excitement of watching our favorite teams in action before the start of the regular season is now over.

The upside is that when something ends in the world of sports, something else is just beginning. I’m talking about the beginning of the MLB season, and even more specifically, the start of the New York Yankees’ season.

I’ve always been a Yankees fan. On April 1, they reassured that fandom with a 10–8 win in an exhibition game against the Miami Marlins. Not even the Marlins’ new uniforms, new manager Ozzie Guillen or new 37,000-seat stadium were a match for the Bronx Bombers.

History shows the Yankees tend to impress for their regular season debuts. In fact, the club has won 17 of them in the past 20 years.

Not only am I eager for baseball to finally get into full swing, but I couldn’t be more excited to watch Andy Pettitte come out of retirement and work on the mound for New York.

If this start is any indication for how the season will unfold, I predict a 28th World Series Championship for New York this year.
