Police Beat: April 18


Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday.

  • A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested Thursday afternoon on the 2000 block of South Rural Road on suspicion of trespassing, according to a report.

The man was in a woman’s apartment for about 30 seconds before the woman awoke to the sound of falling bottles, police reported.

She told police she went to turn on the bathroom light and saw the man leaving through the window, according to the report.

The woman told police she recognized the man as a neighbor who lived in the apartment complex for eight years, and she gave the police the man's information, police reported.

The man was arrested at his apartment, police reported.

Police found shoe prints on the woman’s outside air conditioner leading to the window, according to the report.

The man’s shoes matched the shoe prints, but he denied leaving his apartment, police reported.

The man was arrested, transported and booked at the Tempe City Jail, police reported.
