ASU Police reported the following incident Friday:

 

  • An unknown man is suspected of harassing a 23-year-old female University employee with repeated phone calls Wednesday while she was at the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus, according a police report.The woman told ASU Police she had answered a phone call from a private number and only heard heavy breathing, police reported.The person called back immediately after the woman hung up and began speaking, making sexual references about her and himself, according to the report.

    The woman thought it was her ex-boyfriend calling because the voice sounded familiar, but he lives in Lebanon, police reported.

    The woman hung up again, but the man repeatedly called back, according to the report.

    During the phone calls, the man said his name was Alejandro, he lived in Los Angeles and got her number from her friend Veronica, police reported.

    The woman told police she doesn’t know a Veronica, according to the report.

    The woman also told police her roommate had received two phone calls in the morning from a private number, but the roommate had not answered it, police reported.

    Police told the woman to advise her friend to answer the phone call and to compare the situation if it happens again, according to the report.

    The man called to give his last name after police spoke with the woman, police reported.

    The man said he is 26 years old, lives near McClintock Drive and Southern Avenue and drives a 2001 blue Honda Civic, according to the report.

    The man had repeatedly asked to meet in person with the woman, but she said no every time, police reported.

    Police searched for a person matching the description but were unable to locate him, according to the report.

    Police told the woman to not answer the phone calls anymore but keep any voicemail messages he may leave, police reported.

    The woman said she may aid in prosecution if the person is caught, according to the report.
