‘Old man’ steals cell phone from Memorial Union


ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • Police are investigating the theft of a male student’s cell phone Monday night at the Memorial Union on the 200 block of Orange Mall, according to a police report.Police were called after a student said an “old man” stole his phone, police reported.The student said he left his phone on a couch where he was sitting next to a sleeping man, according to the report.

    He described the man as white with no facial hair and in his late 50s, police reported.

    The man was wearing dark clothes and had a black bag, according to the report.

    Witnesses told police they saw the man take the phone after the student got up to play pool, police reported.

    There are no suspects at this time, according to the report.

  • An unknown person or persons damaged a vehicle Monday on the 500 block of Packard Drive, according to a police report.The student returned to his vehicle and saw someone had broken into his vehicle and attempted to steal a DVD monitor inside, police reported.The student told officers he also had a GPS inside his glove box but it was not taken, according to the report.

    Police processed the vehicle and found two fingerprints on DVD monitor for further investigation, police reported.

    There was approximately $1,900 worth of damage to the vehicle, police reported.

    There are no suspects at this time, according to the report.
