Tempe Police reported the following incident Thursday:

  • A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sept. 21 on the 50 block of South McClintock Drive on suspicion of extreme driving under the influence, according to a police report.

Officers contacted the man after his car collided with a stopped vehicle, police reported.

They conducted a field sobriety test and noticed possible signs of drug use, according to the report.

Officers arrested the man at the scene, police reported.

After a Breathalyzer test, police found that there was no alcohol in the man’s system, according to the report.

During this time, police learned the man’s license was restricted due to a previous DUI drug conviction, police reported.

The man was taken to the Tempe Police DUI van for DUI drug processing, where he voluntarily submitted to a drug influence evaluation and blood draw, according to the report.

After evaluation, officers determined the man was under the influence of central nervous system depressants, narcotic analgesic and marijuana, police reported.

He was taken to the Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.

ASU Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

  • A 54-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Sept. 19 on the 400 block of South Central Avenue on suspicion of theft, trespassing and criminal damages, according to a police report.

A police aide saw the man steal a bike in the parking structure of the University Center Building and followed the man to Central Avenue and Monroe Street, police reported.

The man already had a warning for trespassing in February and for panhandling a few weeks prior to the incident, according to the report.

The man told police he cut the cable lock on the bike after the officer found a pair of bolt cutters in the man’s backpack, police reported.

Officers returned the bike to the owner, cited the man and booked him into the 4th Avenue Jail, according to the report.
