ASU Police reported the following incidents Tuesday.
- Police are investigating a theft that occurred the afternoon of Aug. 24 at the Palo Verde Main residence hall on the 500 block of East University Drive, according to a police report.An ASU student told police his keys were stolen after returning to his dorm room and leaving them in the door, according to the report.A few hours after returning to Palo Verde Main, the student told police a man knocked on his door for unknown reasons, police reported.
The student told police the man looked disheveled and claimed to be a member of ASU’s student government, according to the report.
Other student witnesses said the man acted as if he were on drugs and looked sick, police reported.
After the man left, the student noticed his keys were gone, according to the report.
The missing keys belong to the student’s car, his room at Palo Verde Main and the UPS mailbox, police reported.
- A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested the evening of Aug. 25 on the 600 block of College Avenue on suspicion of trespassing and loitering, according to a police report.An officer noticed the man walking that morning on the north side of the Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex and recognized the man from previous arrests, according to the report.The man had been arrested 12 times for trespassing prior to his Aug. 25 arrest, police reported.
The man refused to stop as requested by the officer and began walking faster, according to the report.
Police later found the man on a bench outside of Barrett, the Honors College Academic Complex, police reported.
The man told police he was trying to get out of the sun and “had nowhere else to go,” according to the report.
Police arrested the man and took him to the Fourth Avenue Jail for booking, police reported.
