Tempe memorializes Sept. 11 victims with beach park tribute

Volunteers converged on Tempe Beach Park Sunday to raise around 3,000 flags to memorialize the thousands of victims who were murdered by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.  The flags, which are meant to memorialize each of the victims, are part of the annual Tempe Healing Field event which is co-hosted by the Exchange Club of Tempe and the City of Tempe. Memorial events will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 in the early morning and evening to recognize the lives lost in the attacks 11 years ago.
