In Brad Denny’s recent House of Sparky article, he accuses the ASU football fan base of being a “crazy ex-girlfriend.”
Denny was spot-on.
ASU football — Arizona sports fans in general — need to make a decision: either support their teams through thick and thin, or get out of the way.
As an Arizona sports fan, I can say with all honesty that we are some of the worst sports fans around.
We can barely fill stadiums during postseason runs, and when our teams don’t perform well, it’s constant negativity and pessimism.
I get that Arizona is a melting pot and there are a lot of sports fans here with different alliances, but the fan base here needs to step up.
Just because the Suns aren’t constantly putting up 50-win seasons anymore doesn’t mean US Airways Center needs to be half-full every game.
Just because the Coyotes play in Glendale doesn’t mean all 17,125 seats can’t be filled up.
As for ASU football, give the team a break.
The past couple have weeks have not been ideal, but the team still has a chance to win the Pac-12 South and play for the Rose Bowl.
A common slogan for ASU’s new black uniforms is “black out or back out.”
If Arizona sports fans can’t black out with their teams, they need to back out for good.
