This weekend comes one of my favorite holidays of the year, Thanksgiving. This means tons of food, being around family and seeing friends come home from out of town. But these are not the only reasons why I love thanksgiving; one of my favorite events happens immediately after I finish my second serving of my mom’s mashed potatoes: Black Friday.

I can stock up on gifts and update some of my own pieces of technology while staying on a budget. While the Black Friday advertisements have not officially been released, my go-to website for finding the ads before they come out on Thursday is blackfriday.com.

This website compiles the leaked Black Friday ads from all of the major stores, Target, Walmart, BestBuy and many more, making the process of figuring out which store has what you want at the best price that much easier. After much perusing, there are some deals that really stand out to me.

This year is the year of the cheap, big screen television. Walmart has a 50-inch, 1080p (this term tells the consumer what video quality the television can handle; a higher number means a higher picture quality, simply put) Emerson television for just under $300; while this is a smoking deal, I have not had much experience with the brand and Walmart is quite a popular store, making the chances of getting this piece somewhat slim. If you are looking for a smaller television, check out BestBuy’s 40-inch, 1080p Toshiba television for only $180.

Tablets are the new devices that many are trying to get their hands on and there are a few good deals on the all-in-one devices this black Friday. Target is selling their lineup of iPads with $60 gift cards as incentive (because Apple has a weird way of handling the black Friday crowds). Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is going to be $20 off its normal price at OfficeDepot on the crazy shopping morning. The other gamble that many take is to wait at Apple stores, hoping that they will have good price reductions on accessories because Apple maintains their prices on their devices like iPad and iPhone.

While some of the better deals have been highlighted above, it is best to check out the blackfriday.com website for yourself because only you know what you want and how much you are willing to spend on it. If you are like me and are willing to conquer these lines and crowds for a hefty savings follow this tip: plan ahead. If you figure out which items you want the most, while ordering them according to popularity and cost, and brave the dreaded lines, you are bound to snag a great deal.

I am aiming to get a new television, pick up some cheap Blu-ray movies and maybe a piece of furniture; good luck and happy bargain hunting!
