Man arrested after public urination


Tempe police reported the following incident Friday:

A Tempe man was arrested Jan. 3 on East Fifth Street on suspicion of public urination and possession of narcotics, according to a police report.

A Tempe Police officer saw the man urinating between two vehicles, police reported.

When the officer approached the vehicles, he opened the front passenger door to one of the vehicles, removed an item from his pocket and shoved it under the seat, according to the report.

A K-9 unit assisted in the search of the man's vehicle, and the dog alerted the officer to the presence of illegal substances, police reported.

A cigarette box containing a plastic baggie with a powdery substance was found under the front passenger seat, according to the report.

Police transported the man to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
