This week I am bringing to you the second installment in what can now be considered Art of the Matter’s Monthly DIY Post!
This month I will make easy art with you. Can’t paint? Don’t’ worry. Can’t draw? It doesn’t matter! This project is super easy, but it makes you look like you’re a crazy good artist. You’re welcome.
Here’s how:
Step 1.
Find or improvise a canvas. I took the improvisational route and cut out one side of a cardboard box that my psychology textbook came in.
Step 2.
Find some magazines from which you can cut out cool images. Then, cut out and glue said images onto your canvas in a creative fashion. Remember to trim the edges so nothing hangs over the canvas.
Step 3.
Cover your canvas with clear nail polish or hairspray. Allow it to dry. This helps protect the magazine clippings from the tape you will use to form the letters or shapes.
Step 4.
Using scotch tape or something else adhesive, form the letters or shapes that will remain in color as the rest of your canvas is painted white.
Step 5.
Paint the whole canvas one color. Once it has dried, pull the tape away to reveal the shape you made.
Step 6.
Display and brag about it.
