Devil Dish: Baseball is back

The smell of fresh-cut grass and the sound of balls snapping into leather gloves means one thing: Baseball is back.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Monday for multiple teams around the MLB. This marks the official start of baseball season.

This also brings new life to teams and fans all across the country. Everyone is 0-0 and has a chance to make it into October.

Last season, the Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles both made miraculous runs into the postseason. This gives every fan a reason for optimism.

Arizona is a great host for the Cactus League. The weather is phenomenal this time of year, and all the facilities are state of the art.

Fans from across the country travel to the Valley in anticipation of seeing their favorite team. In my opinion, it's more enjoyable to catch a game in March than it is in July.

Following an offseason marred with more PED controversy, spring training provides the MLB with a much needed fresh start.

Baseball is back, and for all the right reasons. Fans can once again embrace the glory of America's first pastime.
