I feel bad for NFL teams that need a quarterback.
This simply isn’t the year they're going to find a franchise changer in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Geno Smith is widely considered the best quarterback on the board.
Wow.
Has anybody watched this guy play a game? He’s one of the most inaccurate quarterbacks I’ve ever seen.
There’s also a huge misconception about his game.
He can’t scramble!
He’s a slow, traditional pocket passer.
Matt Barkley is the polar opposite. He’s got all the accuracy you want in an NFL quarterback. The only problem is that he has an extremely weak arm.
If the Eagles select Geno Smith, I don’t even know what my reaction will be.
Shock. Anger. Disbelief.
Any other fan should feel the exact same way. This guy isn’t a game changer. He’s going to set an NFL franchise back 10 years.
I know what everyone is thinking. “Remember Donovan McNabb?” Yes, I remember him. Andy Reid selected him in his first draft, and they were forever conjoined at the hip.
There’s a distinct difference in this situation. Chip Kelly doesn’t run a traditional offense. It requires a mobile quarterback. Geno Smith certainly doesn’t fit the bill.
If I were an NFL general manager, I would remain patient, for on the horizon awaits a glimmer of hope. His name is Johnny “Football” Manziel.
