The AFC just got more interesting.
The Indianapolis Colts have acquired running-back Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for their 2014 first-round pick.
Not only are the Colts in position to contend this season, but for many years to come. Quarterback Andrew Luck, 24, Richardson, 22 and wide-receiver T.Y. Hilton, 23, are all only in their second year in the NFL. The future is extremely bright for this Colts team.
As for this season, the Colts could make a surprising Super Bowl run. The New England Patriots are struggling with injuries in their wide receiver core, the Houston Texans’ defense has not performed well and the AFC North only has two wins among four teams.
The only hurdle for the Colts appears to be the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning and the Broncos look to be the class of the AFC, if not the entire NFL.
As for the Browns, put this season in the books. Cleveland has effectively given up on the 2013 season, with all eyes on the highly anticipated 2014 draft class.
The Browns have the inside track for the first overall pick in the draft, and we can fully expect South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney, Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater or Texas A&M;’s Johnny Manziel to be holding a Browns jersey at the Draft in New York come April.
