Devil Dish: Stronger fans make a stronger team

Game Day at ASU arrives. Spirits are high as the clock ticks down until kickoff and the roar of the crowd commences.

Well, at least until the end of the first quarter, when students get bored and go looking for a drink. Filling the seats and cheering on the team is the truest way to support the team, even if it’s a losing score at halftime, but especially if it’s a one touchdown game at halftime. As the Sun Devils have come out with a winning record and a top-25 ranking in these early parts of the season, it is embarrassing to see hundreds of “fans” leave the game while the battle rages on the field.

As far as I’m concerned, if the team is playing their hearts out on the field, the least we can do is scream and cheer until our voices go out. I could not be happier that Taylor Kelly and the Sun Devils are doing well this season, but we owe them more as fans.

I just hope to see seats staying filled, tickets being bought, and support being given to the athletes who work so hard to represent us. I really hope that when the Notre Dame game comes around, every student is in front of a big screen TV, or at a sports bar screaming their heads off and cheering on their Sun Devils from afar.
