Now, I know what you're wondering: Is it possible for society go any lower than it already has after Miley Cyrus's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August? It turns out that we can.
Fear not, my fellow college students, for I have found the lowest of all possible lows: the Internet is now getting women pregnant — or at least Craigslist is.
And by getting women pregnant, I mean that there are women selling positive pregnancy tests on Craigslist.
Yes, you read correctly. Women are selling positive pregnancy tests. You can buy anything on the Internet now, even a fake child.
And the worst part of this all? Women are actually buying these pregnancy tests. Look, I get it. You want to keep your man, or you're running a little low on money. But it's just outrageous. Pregnancy, no matter how many times we joke about it, is a serious issue.
According toCNN,one of the prospective buyers summed it up in this little review: "Wanna get your boyfriend to finally pop the question? Play a trick on Mom, Dad or one of your friends?"
Don't worry, though, the sellers also post a disclaimer: "It is not my business what you use it for."
But here’s what brothers me. Why are women selling their positive pregnancy tests on Craigslist? What could possibly make women or anyone think its OK to sell, let alone buy, this kind of thing?
Never in my many years of using the Internet would I have thought that I could buy used positive pregnancy tests online.
Truly, I’m trying to understand what you would do with them. If you use it to try to con your boyfriend into staying with you, how do you plan to explain to your significant other what exactly happened in a few months when you aren’t showing?
Maybe you're with the perfect guy and you don’t want to let him go. But these sort of manipulative tactics are plain evil. I mean, this goes along with the lines of evil of "Snapped," the Lifetime true crime series about female murderers, which generally involve a similar sort of romantic schemes.
So gentlemen, if your girlfriend gets pregnant, you might want to check her recent Internet history to see if Craigslist is on there.
I guess you can say desperate times call for desperate measures. But I never knew that women would go to an all time low like this. I am seriously ashamed and worried for anyone who would consider buying or selling.
