Cornerback Patrick Peterson is the only reason to watch the Arizona Cardinals.
Peterson, in his third year out of Louisiana State University, was expected to be a special player when he was drafted fifth overall in the 2011 NFL draft.
This year, new coach Bruce Arians teased the media and fans when he revealed that Peterson was going to be a part of the offense in special situations.
Peterson’s electrifying presence makes every pass thrown his way a contested and exciting play, not to mention the anticipation he creates when he returns a punt for the team.
If Sunday’s game against the disappointing Tampa Bay Buccaneers is any indication of how bad the Cardinals can be on offense, it is safe to assume we all need a little more Peterson in our lives.
Peterson came up big against the Bucs with a crucial interception late in the fourth quarter that led to an easy touchdown pass from Carson Palmer to Larry Fitzgerald. That touchdown gave the Cardinals the lead for the first time in the game.
Only a few plays later, Peterson picked off rookie Mike Glennon for the second time to seal the victory for the Cardinals.
Maybe now we can expect Arians to add Peterson to the offense and bring a little life into the anemic Cardinals offense.
