Notre Dame used a late touchdown drive to take a 14-13 lead into halftime over ASU.
On their first drive of the game, the Fighting Irish put together a 14-play 58-yard drive, chipping away at the Sun Devil defense, but it wouldn’t end the way they would want it to.
Senior kicker Kyle Brindza missed a 38-yard field goal wide left.
After Notre Dame’s failed first drive, the Sun Devils would strike first, scoring a pair of field goals in the second quarter to take a quick 6-0 lead.
But the Irish would fire back quickly.
Senior quarterback Tommy Rees connected with junior tight end Ben Koyack on a 19-yard touchdown to give the Irish a 7-6 lead.
The Sun Devils responded with a touchdown drive of their own as redshirt junior quarterback Taylor Kelly and redshirt sophomore receiver linked up on a 36-yard touchdown on fourth down to retake the lead.
Rees and the Fighting Irish offense finished off the half with an eight-yard touchdown to senior receiver T.J. Jones with 10 seconds remaining in the half to finish the scoring for the half.
