Another week of Pac-12 football is in the books. Here is how the conference fared this week.
No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 16 Washington: Oregon W 45-24
The Ducks' dominance over the Huskies persisted, but this time the Huskies made a game of it. Twice the Huskies were able to pull to within a touchdown of the Ducks, but each time Washington didn’t have an answer for Oregon redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcus Mariota. The Ducks put up another 600-yard offensive performance and Mariota had 366 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Oregon’s defense also had a strong showing especially against the pass. The Ducks allowed only 182 passing yards on the day.No. 5 Stanford vs. Utah: Utah W 27-21
The Utes got their program's biggest win since moving to the Pac-12 by knocking off No. 5 Stanford 27-21. A last-second goal line stand from the Utes sealed the victory as Utah sophomore quarterback Travis Wilson threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore running back Bubba Poole was crucial in Utah's win, as he carried the ball 22 times for 111 yards. Stanford junior quarterback Kevin Hogan had a good day throwing for 246 yards and a touchdown but it wasn’t enough to get the Cardinal the win.No. 11 UCLA vs. Cal: UCLA W 37-10
UCLA redshirt sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley followed up a career game last week by having another one this week. Hundley threw for a career high 410 yards and three touchdowns as the Bruins demolished the Golden Bears on Saturday night. The Bruins rushing attack struggled, gaining only 78 yards, but their defense more than made up for it. The Bruins’ defense limited Cal’s normally prolific passing offense to only 215 yards and no touchdowns. The game against the Bears served as a good preparation game for the Bruins. Their next two games are against No.13 Stanford and No. 2 Oregon, both away from the friendly confines of the Rose Bowl.Oregon State vs. Washington State: OSU W 52-24
In this battle of explosive passing offenses, the Beavers would come out on top. The game was close for most of the contest and was tied 24-24 going into the fourth quarter. However, the fourth quarter would belong solely to the Beavers. OSU would score four unanswered touchdowns to make the game appear more lopsided than it was. Beavers’ junior quarterback Sean Mannion continued to show why he’s one of the top quarterbacks in the country, going 34 of 51 for 493 yards and four touchdowns. Catching two of Mannion’s toucdowns was junior wide receiver Brandin Cooks who continues to lead the country in receiving touchdowns (11) and receiving yards (944).USC vs. Arizona: USC W 38-31
When Lane Kiffin was fired as USC’s head coach, it looked like the rest of the Trojans’ season was finished. But hold on just one second because interim head coach Ed Orgeron might have just lit a spark in the men of Troy. Going into halftime, USC led 28-10 and looked well on their way to routing the Wildcats. However, UA would rally and outscore the Trojans 21-10 in the second half. The Trojans did enough damage in the first half to hold off UA, though.
