If you're bullying someone on the field in the game of football, it earns you praise from coaches, fans and teammates.
If you're bullying someone off the field in the game of football, it earns you an indefinite suspension, a stigma and sheer disappointment.
ESPN.com reported Monday morning that Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito sent a voice message to teammate and fellow offensive lineman Jonathan Martin in April.
The voice message included racial slurs, death threats, threats to Martin's mother and wanting to "sh-t in (Martin's) f-cking mouth," while laughing throughout the message.
Is this fifth grade all over again?
Incognito hasn't been the most popular guy around the league, but this is a new low, even for him.
Martin abruptly left the team last week, and it's unknown whether he will return. Meanwhile, Incognito has been suspended indefinitely, and it's unknown whether he will return.
In any case, bullying is now a centerpiece issue in the NFL.
Thanks, Richie.
