Tempe campus building closed after power, water outage

A water main break caused a power and water outage at the H.B. Farmer Education building.

The west end of the H.B. Farmer Education building on the Tempe campus is closed until further notice, according to an ASU advisory sent out Thursday morning.

A water main break caused a power and water outage, according to the alert. Power repairs are expected to take several hours, while the water is expected to be out for the rest of the day.

This is the third time since January that the Tempe campus experienced a power outage after water damage. In February, water seeping into electrical systems cut power to most buildings on Palm Walk. At the time, university spokeswoman Julie Newberg said the University was working to prevent future outages through equipment inspections, evaluations and improvements.
