The ASU Police Department is warning students to be extra cautious in light of a sexual assault that happened Tuesday.

An ASU student reported she was assaulted Sept. 9 near the Adelphi Commons II on the Tempe campus, said ASU Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Daniel Macias.

“During the attack, (the attacker) struck her head and knocked her unconscious,” Macias said. “The attacker was described as a light-skinned male, wearing a dark-colored hoodie, dark pants and black shoes.” Macias said crime alerts were posted on the ASU Police Department website and sent out to those who live near Adelphi Commons.

Police want students to know their safety is paramount, Macias said.

“Utilize the safety escort service available on campus,” he said. “Practice the buddy system and don’t walk alone at night. We want to reinforce the idea of safety in numbers.”

Macias said police are still trying to gather more information and urge anyone with information concerning the attack to contact police at 480-965-1515.
