numbers 19

The number of times ASU coach Todd Graham used the words "embarrassing" (three), "frustrating" (two), "catastrophic" (two), "mistake" (seven), "atrocious" (three) or disappointing (one) to describe Thursday night's performance.

numbers 580

The number of yards ASU gave up to UCLA. Thursday marked the second straight game Todd Graham's defense has given up more than 500 yards.

numbers 42-68

Mike Bercovici's completions for attempts. Both numbers from the redshirt junior's first start set school passing records. Jeff Van Raaphorst held the previous record of 38 completions (twice) and Paul Justin held the previous record of 63 attempts.

numbers 9

The most carries by any Sun Devil. Not only did ASU rely heavily on the passing game, when it did run the ball, everybody got touches. Redshirt senior Deantre Lewis (46 yards) and junior D.J. Foster (30 yards) both led the team with nine carries. Three others also had at least five attempts.

numbers 105 58

The number of offensive plays to defensive plays for ASU. The Sun Devils ran 105 plays but only scored 27 points, a result of four turnovers. UCLA, on the other hand, scored 62 points, running only 58 plays because of consistent big gains. Todd Graham said his defense looked tired despite the fewer number of plays.

numbers 195

The number of yards UCLA junior cornerback Ishmael Smith ran on his two scores. Smith picked off Bercovici to end the first half, going 95 yards to the house. He then ran back a kick 100 yards early in the second half.

numbers 5

Plays of 80 or more yards for the Bruins. Granted, one came on special teams and one came on defense (both by junior cornerback Ishmael Smith). When explosive run plays are at least 15 yards and explosive pass plays are 20, the Bruins still win the stat but closely. UCLA had nine explosive plays to ASU's six.

numbers 28-0

The run UCLA went on in the second and third quarters to put the game away. After ASU got up 17-6, it allowed 28 unanswered points before kicking a field goal. From the time it was 17-6, UCLA outscored ASU 56-10.

numbers 14

The number of consecutive kickoffs ASU's didn't return to start the season. In their first four-plus games, the Sun Devils took 14 straight touchbacks. Freshman Kalen Ballage snapped the streak in the second quarter, when he returned a kick to the 15-yard line. He returned three kicks for an average of 18 yards.

numbers 49

The yardage of Zane Gonzalez's first field goal, which was a career-long for the sophomore kicker. His previous best had been 44 yards, set against Texas Tech in the 2013 Holiday Bowl.

numbers 10

UCLA's yards per play. The Bruins averaged four more yard per play than the Sun Devils, who averaged six. UCLA averaged 5.61 yards per play in its first three games.
