Bravo to Eric Holder, the U.S. Attorney General, for his role in preserving civil, voting and LGBT rights in this country. He resigned today, but will continue in his position until his successor is confirmed. He reportedly reached his decision over Labor Day while conversing with President Barack Obama.

Boo to the mysterious death of a Staten Island Zoo groundhog. The groundhog died a week after squirming out of the arms of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio at a Groundhog Day event, and a new report suggests there was a coverup. There is but one certain detail, and it is that a groundhog died far too young.

Bravo to Derek Jeter. The longtime Yankee will play in his last game Sunday but his impact on baseball will resonate for years to come.

Boo to ESPN for suspending Bill Simmons. It is not wrong for columnists to express their opinions when those opinions are positive, and it shouldn’t be if they express opinions that are negative.

Boo-ravo to the United Arab Emirates' first female fighter pilot, Mariam al-Mansouri, and the reaction she got from Fox News, always such a paragon of feminist values. It's incredibly cool that a woman led the strike against militants. That Fox hosts responded with quips about women parking and "boobs on the ground"? Not so much.

Bravo to Emma Watson for her incredible speech at the U.N. headquarters in New York. She was as eloquent as she is on screen, and she drew attention around the world to the HeforShe campaign.

Boo to Apple for yielding to complacency. Spending so much time at the top has made the company lazy, resulting in iPhones that bend in your pocket and operating systems that are so bad they need to be recalled.

Bravo to the Navajo Nation receiving $554 million in a settlement with the U.S. government, the largest settlement with an American tribe in U.S. history. The tribe deserves every penny with the U.S. government's mismanagement of Navajo resources.

Boo to the first plague-infected fleas of the season in Flagstaff.

Boo-ravo to the Phoenix Suns's additions of Zoran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe. While the addition of Goran's younger brother gives Phoenix even more depth at point guard and more twins than anyone in the NBA, the Suns cowered to Bledsoe's demand of a near-max deal.
