Tempe Police: Man drives while impaired, in possession of amphetamines


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

A 30-year-old Chandler man was arrested Aug. 24 on University Drive on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, possession of drugs and possesion of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

The man was stopped for a traffic violation, but when officers walked up to the car, they smelled fresh marijuana, police reported.

When police searched the vehicle they found a black pipe, a baggie containing 13 capsules with an unknown powder and a baggie of amphetamines, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, police reported.

 

A 46-year-old man was arrested Aug. 24 on the light rail bridge on Rio Salado Parkway and Ash Avenue for criminal trespassing, according to a police report.

The man was seen walking southbound on the light rail bridge from Lakeview Drive toward Rio Salado Parkway by light rail security, police reported.

The man was contacted by police upon crossing the bridge and stated he did not see the “no trespassing” signs at each end of the bridge, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
