Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
- A 26-year-old Mesa woman was arrested Sept. 7 at Riverside Drive and Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal damage, according to a police report.Officers stopped a car, where the woman was riding as a passenger, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI, police reported.
After being told to be seated, the woman attempted to walk out into traffic multiple times, according to the report.
She attempted to punch an officer, and she knocked a radio microphone off his uniform, police reported.
According to the report, the woman kicked at the officer’s legs and continued kicking at him after she was detained on the ground.
When officers were escorting the woman to the transport, she reached back and kicked one of the officers in the stomach, leaving an imprint of her cowboy boot on his shirt, police reported.
The woman then scraped an officer’s finger and did some irreparable damage to his uniform and boots, police reported.
As the woman continued to kick an officer, she was placed under arrest and held down until she was compliant, according to the police report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
- A 23-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Sept. 3 at Baseline Road and Arizona Mills South on suspicion of destruction of evidence, according to a police report.Officers stopped the car where the man was riding, and the man then began to chew and swallow marijuana from the car, police reported.
An officer detected marijuana smell coming from the car and found an unusable quantity of marijuana residue on the man’s seat, according to the report.
While talking to the man, an officer smelled marijuana again, police reported.
An officer asked the man to open his mouth and saw that his tongue was green and leaves were stuck to his teeth, according to the police report
The man admitted he chewed and swallowed marijuana estimated to be the size of a button or smaller, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
